12:16 pm - Leftover Charity Yarn The leftover Charity Yarn has now been listed on ebay here: http://shop.ebay.com/merchant/thescorchcake This year I decided that all the proceeds with go to this place called Mission House that helps drug addicts after they've completed rehab but have no where to go. They get a palce to live and job-training and food-help. The men from it come around the neighborhood once every few months as part of their worker-training and do fundraising stuff and they are always so nice and polite and thankful even if I only have a couple dollars or something. One time I didn't have any money but the guy looked cold so I gave him a hat and he'd cried (which of course, made me cry.) So this time I'll be able to hand them a big "group-donation" and I am really excited about that! THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR PARTICIPATING! Don't forget to post your knits! 04:13 pm - Peruvian Highland Wool? Does anyone use Knitpicks "Wool of the Andes" or "Shamrock" yarn? They are both made with Peruvian Highland Wool - which I can't find in my local yarn shop to feel on. I'm always curious to try it but I have a nearly insurmountable THING about buying yarn online that I haven't touched before. Can anyone compare it softness and/or sturdiness wise to any of the following? Purewool 3-ply Gaia Peace Fleece Hippy Dippy Worsted Lamb's Pride Would you use it for something next to a baby's skin or the skin of a super-sensitive adult? Thanks!
